White Oak New Mexico Mines and Miners

In 1879 lode gold was discovered at what became known as the North Homestake mine.  And soon thereafter, the Old Abe, South Homestake, and other claims were located.  A small intermittent production of placer gold had been made for 25 years prior to the lode discovery. The total production of the camps is estimated at about $3,000,000.
