About Oct 15th, 1880, the United States Post Office ordered establishing a daily mail to White Oaks via Socorro. This order will be seen takes effect the 15th. In pursuance of an order from the Post Master General to, first resume service, second change to begin at Socorro instead of Santa Fe and run by White Oaks to Fort Stanton and back and increase to seven times per week. This order to take effect Oct 15th, 1880. By the order of the Postmaster General.
In an article listed in the Las Vegas Gazette, Dec 9th, 1880: ” People are very much displeased with the way in which the mails are managed. It does not arrive daily according to contract. Sometimes papers are not received for a week or ten days after the day of sending. The mail sent from here on the 3d came back today for some reason unknown to our citizens.
