Jacob Miller

Jacob Miller, one of the early merchants to White Oaks 1882, owned and operated the “Dunning and Miller” a full line of staples and fancy groceries, Provisions and miner’s supplies. Operated without his brother-in-law Danforth Dunning until Miller’s death in 1890 . The Post office was moved to Dunning and Miller in March of 1883 and Henry Bellomy was commissioned Post Master.  Date of death unknow in U.S. Census. This is an important find as to the placement of the Post Office throughout the years. Seems to be, the Post Office was always centrally located near its current location with only moving across the street and up and down a few lots. In Dec , 1888 Mrs. P.G. Janes started a boarding house at this location, see clippings below
